Europe 2021

nof1lterzinecontac

I got to go to Europe this summer. More specifically, Paris and Madrid. I spent a little over a week with my mom in August where we avoided all of our problems and lived our BEST lives. I’m so incredibly grateful for this experience and thought this would be the perfect medium to document everything :)

Day 1: Paris

This first day was a friendly reminder that I will never take a red-eye flight again. This day, we got to our hotel, walked around Paris, we took the metro and saw the Eiffel Tower in the morning and at night! There is this really nice park called Champ du Mars that is right near the Eiffel Tower, giving you the perfect view. We also saw the Arc de Triomphe and walked down Champs Elysees, which is a bunch of stores.

Day 2: Paris

On this day, we saw the Sacre Coeur (totally forgot an accent there…) where I got to check out a lock bridge!! Typically, the Ponts des Arts is known for having a lock bridge, there’s now a law that you can’t put a lock there :( On the second day, my mom and I also saw the Moulin Rouge and walked in the Monmarte area.

Day 3: Paris

AHHH !! On this day, we took the Paris SNCF train system all the way to Chateau du Chambord. There are a ton of different castles you can go to, but it takes so much time to get to each one and to do a proper tour/walk-through. This was a much more rural perspective of Paris, so it was nice to get away from the busy city. The train ride was about an hour and a half each way. The castle was beautiful, and you needed your vaccination card for entry!

Day 4: Paris

My mom and I checked out a bunch of thrift stores and flea markets on day 4. During the rest of the day, we went to the Musee d’Orsay. It was really beautiful!! Oh, and during lunch, I got a burger. It was interesting how they served it to me with an egg though...A COLD EGG…. Also, WE WENT TO THE LOUVRE !!! AHHH !!! I saw the Mona Lisa in real life, which by the way, is surprisingly, extremely tiny. I certainly did not expect it to be such a tiny painting in real life. The line was INSANE and the whole room was packed.

Day 5: Paris

We were able to go to Versaille Palace :) There’s also a little garden there, which is extremely grand and incredible to look at. After Versaille, my mom and I went to Vernaison. It’s a huge thrift store/flea market area that goes on for roads and roads.

Day 6: Madrid

After a NEGATIVE covid test at the Madrid airport, we headed to our hotel! By this time, it was dinner time, and we had the most amazing paella. Oh my god. I think it’s my new favorite food. Seriously. Then, we went to the Templo debod where we watched the sunset. It’s sort of a monument/park area so there were a ton of people gathering to take photos.

Day 7: Madrid

We had some amazing churros, went shopping, walked to the el Retiro park and went to the Musee del Prado. By the end of this trip, I got some amazing souvenirs, encountered some of the nicest people I’ve ever come across, and saw the most amazing views.
